What is Gamma Fam?
Ever heard the saying that insurance is a “people business”? Well whether you have or haven’t, you are definitely in the right place. Joining a mentorship program allows any young professional to gain industry skills outside those learned in class. And face it, aren’t you getting sick of classes anyway? By taking on a mentor, you are allowing yourself the opportunity to learn what it takes to put yourself in a position to succeed.
Consider this story to emphasize the importance of your network. A young executive is looking to close a business deal, but is in a time crunch. They are contacting every possible connection, but are unable to find one specific insurance coverage for their client. The end of the business day is coming near, and the professional asks the most senior executive for help, one who has been in the industry for nearly fifty years. Long story short, the senior executive makes a few calls and finds that coverage within ten minutes, all because of the people he knew in the industry that could get the deal done.
The point is that it is all about who you know. It’s never too early to start working on your professional skills, and it’s never too early to build your network. The people you sit in class with now will be the ones you will be calling to close a deal with when time is running thin.
